There is the pressing need to define a new narrative for Europe, as Robert Schuman did on 9 may 1950. 65 years after his original Schuman Declaration, a milestone in the process of European political Integration. Giuliano Amato, Élisabeth Guigou and Vaira Vike-Freiberga have today presented what they see as “a new narrative for Europe – a contemporary and compelling raison d’être for the EU.” The event took place at the European University Institute as part of the State of the Union conference in Florence.
